The cuisine at the southern side of the Alps is marked by a synergy of regional South Tyrolean recipes and Italian specialities. The hotels and restaurants of Nals and Sirmian will present you with an extensive menu. Spaghetti or speck dumplings, pizza ... or do you prefer Tyrolean ravioli? The choice is yours.
In addition, our restaurants spoil you with a variety of speciality weeks. Products from Nals and its surrounding area are used to prepare all our food. In Spring, we will offer you asparagus weeks, when most of the dishes served are around the asparagus theme. This vegetable grows best in sandy soil along the river Etsch. At the beginning of Autumn, our village is very busy with the harvesting of apples. During this time, you will be astonished how many dishes can be prepared using this fruit.
In late autumn, life turns to chestnuts, which grow along the Mendelhang in the West of our village. They are eaten together with a glass of new wine during a tradition called ‘Törggelen’. This custom is often enjoyed into the early hours of the morning. The ‘Törggele’ cellars of Nals await you and present you with numerous culinary delights. In addition, you can try out interesting and very tasty dishes containing chestnuts in many restaurants in Obersirmian.
Enjoy a culinary journey of Nals and a good glass of wine from our private wine cellars ‘Castel Schwanburg’ or the wine cellars of ‘Nals & Margreid’. These are the two wine cellars found in our village, which are located at the northern gate of the South Tyrolean Wine Road.
